You may be able to get kindle books from the library. My library, the Clarksville Montgomery County library is awesome. I've had a card for 19 years now and used to use it occasionally. I have really put the card and library to work since I started with home schooling. Now we go to the library about 2 X's a month and each of my kids have a card. We can check out 60 items. Sounds like a lot, but it so easy to find great movies, music and educational books at our library. It has a great children's section and I have really found small books to give just enough information to keep my kids entertained on a subject, while being educated.
Anyway I degrees, the KINDLE books. For Montgomery county I go to http://reads.lib.overdrive.com from there choose account and find your library, enter your card information etc...I go to the advanced search and under format I type Kindle book. I also choose in the show me area at the bottom: My library's collection.
Often new books or top sellers are all checked out, but I find that if I put myself on the waiting list, the book is returned in a couple of days and ready for me.
This is definitely worth checking out, even if you don't have a Clarksville library card, this system is huge. If you don't find your library, you should ask them if there is a similar program available. When I lived in the small town of Abilene, Kansas, even their library had a online borrowing system.
