My kids are obsessed by the Oreo McFlurry. Its pretty much ALWAYS on their mind. I could go broke quick at $3.00 each if I indulged them as often as they wanted. NOW, thanks to my Cuisinart Ice Cream maker (that isn't really necessary, by the way) we have these homemade versions of the Oreo McFlurry and Blizzard almost every night for dessert.
We originally made the Cuisinart ice cream as listed in the recipe with the ice cream maker as follows.
HOMEMADE ICE CREAM RECIPE
2 cups whole milk
3/4 cup sugar
1 T. vanilla
2 cups heavy cream
Mix all together until sugar is dissolved, store in freezer 2 hours or overnight, put in ice cream maker for 20 minutes and enjoy.
HOWEVER, we found this recipe to be to rich, creamy and well downright expensive for our tastes. I searched online and came up with this ice milk version.
ICE MILK RECIPE
4 cups milk (any kind)
1 T. vanilla
1 cup sugar
mix all together until sugar is dissolved, store in freezer 2 hours or overnight, put in ice cream maker for 20 minutes and enjoy.
PERFECT. We always have these ingredients on hand and its healthier than the creamy version.
TO MAKE OREO MCFLURRIES or BLIZZARDS we crush up Oreos (or any favorite candy or cookie) and add to the ice cream maker to mix.
NOTE: if you don't have an ice cream maker, its OK, try mixing your ingredients by hand or with a hand mixer. I'm sure your kids will like it.
