Notebooking, What is that?

Have you been looking at homeschooling curriculum or styles of homeschooling and found the term, notebooking?  Well, I certainly have and at first I just skimmed past it, discounting it as a method of teaching.  Now, that I write a homeschool blog post everyday and always on the search for ideas I found it the perfect time to go back and find out what "notebooking" is all about.  Turns out, I have been doing a little bit of notebooking all along, chances are if you already home educate, you have too.
Notebooking is described well HERE, at notebookingpages.com by Debra Reed.
Notebooking, in a nutshell,is having your child learn about a subject and then documenting their learning in a scrapbook like format giving them the opportunity to focus on what they feel is exciting or important without prompting from teacher directed questions, worksheets or tests.
Notebooking could be done at any age, skill level or even with students with disabilities.
In our home we have one extremely artistic child who would love this type as study as well as a child who hates art but could benefit from preparing artistic enterprises. Both kids also hate to write and one struggles to write well...notebooking could very well be the incentive they need to improve and enjoy writing.
Although, I don't feel compelled to turn my entire home school curriculum into a notebooking endeavor, I am interested in having a notebooking class or choosing random subjects and studies to perform in notebooking form.
