Freestyle Friday: Why you should stop at those garage sales

I am a garage saler, junker, resale shopper.... whatever the term is, I DO IT and I LOVE IT.  I learned the art of shopping garage sales from my mother and have been doing it now for about 30+ years. As a former military soldier and spouse who has moved around alot... I will say that garage sales and resale shops vary upon location, but chances are there are a couple of great "discount"  shopping options available to you.
Some options I have found are garage sales, Craigslist, Ebay, Salvation Army, Thrift Stores, Goodwill stores.
When you are shopping these "stores" be mindful of any additional specials or discounts you can receive... for instance, Goodwill has a senior discount day, a military discount, a .99 clothing day(s)and a color of the week.  My Salvation Army has a color of the week, where certain colored tags are 1/2 off for that week.
Keep a list in your head or on paper of what you are looking for.  Carrying measurements and a tape measuring as well as color swatches of your paint, furniture and curtain fabrics is also helpful.
Great things I have found the past couple weeks include a shelf to hold our school books (2.99) a gorgeous wall hanging for my beach themed bathroom, a pottery barn teen double duvet cover, school books, games, puzzles and numerous pieces of clothing.
